It's been 11 years since the last issue of Melanian News was printed; serving the African American communities of Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Monroe Counties.
"I started the publication back in 2003 for the same reasons I'm bringing it back again in 2021--to give voice to our unheard/unseen community and provide direct access for those who want to reach out to us."
Better and Stronger
Melanian News has joined with Patch Labs, a group of developers and journalists who believe local news and reporting is critical for a functioning democracy (in every community) by giving individual reporters and publishers like myself a sustainable way to cover their communities.
This digital version now has the resources and capacity to reach far more readers than the print version ever could which is a tremendous benefit for Black Business owners, community leaders, and local organizations targeting our community.
However, as a vital necessity for the various POC communities in Northeast PA, Melanian News needs your support to maintain the ability to highlight businesses, organizations, and the hard working leaders in our community who can assist in building a united, progressive, and thriving black citizenship in Northeast Pennsylvania. With that said, please consider becoming a supporting Friend or Advocate and Subscribe to Melanian News.
Staying true to the old African proverb, "A candle is not dimmed by lighting another!"
As Supporters of this publication you now can share your stories, upcoming events, and promote your businesses to a much broader audience who until now had no consolidated, viable way of finding you or knowing what you do.
